- There was agreement on the objectives and it was also agreed that work would be done on identifying criteria to measure progress before the next Colloquium
- resources are required particularly to develop the digital networks, communities and tools, and this of course is one of the three Darzi priorities
- A decision was taken that S&WHerts would be the Lab and that although the primary focus was on the 60+ population the principles and tools were equally relevant to people of working age and could be used to develop the Workwell strategy
- the Living Longer Better system is focused not only on primary prevention but also on complementing and supplementing clinical care with non-drug therapy for people with one or more long term conditions
- A network of national organisations will be set up including Government Departments, professional associations ukactive and Sport England, and key charities for example, the Centre for Ageing Better, AgeUK, parkrun, the Ramblers, Living Streets and the disease specific charities in the Richmond Group
- the system is based on the principles of social pedagogy, namely a paradignm shift from simply doing things for older people to doing things with them andenabling them to make an even greater contribution to all generations in their community
- There will be a second Colloquium in May involving other projects and populations
- A report will be sent to Sir Chris Whitty whose 2023 Annual Report Health in an Ageing Society is the main evidence and data base
