Improving the management of musculoskeletal problems by developing guidelines and pathways for the management of musculoskeletal disorders, including the financial consequences of referring people to gyms and fitness centres. This is a model for other types of referral.

ukactive, the trade body of the wellbeing and fitness industry is working with Sport England, In particular the Active Partnerships , of which there are 42, and with the Faculty of Sport and Exercise Medicine.
They have develop a set of ‘MSK Hubs’ and taken account of medical concerns about ‘referral’ of people to a facility that is not part of the NHS. They are working with 6 ICBs:
